The RCDIJ Africa Fund targets individual journalists across Africa. The categories of journalists include as follows: Employed/Freelance, Online, Print, Broadcast, Photo, Cartoon, Multimedia

THE PROJECTS WE FUND

The RCDIJ Africa Fund supports small to mid-scale data and/or investigative journalism projects spanning a wide range of areas consistent with our objectives, including education, health, security, environment, democracy, corruption, economy, migration, technology, culture and development.

HOW FUNDING DECISIONS ARE MADE

The RCDIJ Africa Fund accepts applications on a rolling basis. Applications are reviewed by a committee and applicants are notified of the status of their application upon review, usually within a two-month cycle.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are to submit the following in a single PDF document, all in English Language: Project idea, Project work plan, Project budget, Links to past published works, Data page of International Passport,  and CV.

THE VALUE OF THE RCDIJ AFRICA FUND

The RCDIJ Africa Fund has a ceiling of $10,000. Approved sum for each project ranges from under $1,000 to $10,000. Each approved sum is determined by a number of considerations, including scale, location, and duration.

In addition to monetary support, successful applicants will have their completed works published on the centre’s sister platform, Ripples Nigeria, with full editorial support throughout the process.

Applicants are to complete the application form or send the required PDF document with contents detailed above, as an attachment to info@rcdij.org. Subject of the mail should read: RCDIJ AFRICA FUND APPLICATION.

    This is our online whistleblowing platform for users to share sensitive information and documents with RCDIJ.

    The goal is to offer confidentiality for anyone who knows of potential or executed illicit transactions, frauds, scams, corruption, environmental disasters, rights violations etc., and wants to make them public but are scared of likely detrimental repercussions.

    It might seem old-fashioned, but posting documents is the safest way to get information to us anonymously. Don’t write your name or any return address on the envelope, and ideally don’t post the documents from your home, workplace or anywhere near those locations.
